In what ways is John's teaching style similar to Asli's, and in what ways is it different?
What did you gain as a teacher from watching John's lesson?
ReplyDeleteHe has many teaching techniques. He taught about pronunciation. He used games to teach students. He divided a group of students.I would have taught his content differently because students will enjoy in activity. It 's similar style, they tried to encourage students to answer. They have a praise for the students. It's different style, level of student, teaching step.I managed the class pair work,it is relative and easy to organize.I feel, It's good idea of the teacher made instructions each activities.
In my opinion,I think he did well in his class. He was a good teacherand confident. He used many technjques such as mime game for students to made in groups students race to mime sentences.Hang man game for elicits from students using mime with agreed gestures.Even though they felt bored and unhappy but they also participate in all activities in the classroom.
ReplyDeleteIf I were him,I would use technology to help in my teaching because it had many pictures ,words and examples to make them understanding in the lesson. He used board a lot.He talking time 70%,students talking time 30%.I think so.
John's teaching style is similar to Asli's because they used praisesing and correction to students. They gave clear instructions and check. They also monitor students too.
I gain as a teacher from watching John's lesson such as pronunciation by blowing paper to check the voice and sound. It was very interesting.I like miming techniques.
In my opinion. He used many teaching techniques to
ReplyDeletemanagement in the classroom such as baby in the box , mime and group work with chart go on the wall. Then he controlled the students, monitor and evidence gatherer. Monitor for example of good/bad
languages and feedback after discussion about sentences stress and word stress of regular past simple endings. Later he presented to students about vocabulary by using bottom - up processing
about individual word, school vocabulary by playing
game. He is an excellent teacher who try to elicit the students abilities. I would like to take his ideas to apply my English teaching in the classroom.
I've already watched John's video of good teaching. He prepared several techniques to use in the class. He used baby in the box, mime, and group work with the chart go on the wall.
ReplyDeleteHe presented the students about vocabulary by using bottom-up processing about individual words, school vocabulary by playing game.
I think it is a good idea if the teacher make instruction clear in each activity.
I have watched John's lesson about two times, I the first time I don't understand what he like to do, but when I watched again I OK I think John did very well in his class. He was a good teacher He used many teaching techniques and made various materials to
ReplyDeletemanagement in his classroom by his self such as miming game card group work. Especially Miming game , this game he very confident He controlled and Monitor . and gave feedback good or bad for his student he taught his content differently because students could enjoy in activity and he motivated his student all times It 's similar style,Asli and John they tried to encourage students same used many techniques same. I will apply there in my classroom.
In my opinion. He’s a good teacher. He used many techniques to use in the classroom such as baby in the box, mime and group work with chart go on the wall. He presented to students about vocabulary by using bottom - up processing about individual word, school vocabulary by playing game. He controlled and Monitor for feedback learning. I would like to take his ideas to adept teaching in the my classroom.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, I think he did well in class. He used several techniques to teach language. I like the idea about telling them the story by miming and then give verb cards to student for retelling the lesson again correctly. I used to teach the past simple tense in the different way, I showed a short story and then assign student to write sentences to retell the story and added their imagined ending. For me, it’s very creative activity for student (some the endings are so weird). I think John’s teaching style is different from Asli’s teaching style. Jonh taught the lesson through his voice, board, paper and letter different from Asli, she added more technology and picture. The rapport between T and ST in Asli class is better because she gave students opportunities to share their opinion in class. After I saw Jonh lesson, I get many ideas for teaching grammar and pronunciation. Moreover, John showed me to use the simple material in classroom to benefit as much as possible (for example, Teacher used a piece of paper to teach pronunciation)
ReplyDeleteI think John did well in his lesson because he used a lot of materials for teaching technique. He encouraged the students to speak and answer. He roled as prompter; encouraged students to keep going. He roled as an editor; corrected students' mistake.
ReplyDeleteHe roled as an organiser; demonstrate the activities.
I have taught differently because when I teach the pronunciation I use cards of /t/,/d/,and /id/ and regular verb such as walked / robbed and I sticked /t/,/d/,and /id/ them on the board. And ask the students to sticked each card under each pronunciation card.
The similar teaching style in John and Asli's class is both teacher tried to encourage the students to participate all of activities, demonstrated how to do in class. They are active, energetic, not sit still while they are teaching. They equally concentrated to every students.
But the different teaching style is Asli's instructions or demonstration is clearer and easier to understand. The atmosphere in Asli's class is better and more comfortable .John always used feedback by using his body language or expression to the students.
I have learnt that the most important thing for teacher is to encourage, motivate the students, speak and demonstrated clearly for students to understand. If you can do that well, you will achieve your goal.
John taught English by following his lesson plan. He stared with vocabulary , words , sentences and drawing picture and finished with students writing the sentences to describe the pictures. He used many techniques and materials in his teaching. He encouraged his students in many ways. His students enjoyed studying and hit to the goal that he planned with many activities. There are many advantages in John's lesson plan and his teaching that I can apply in my classroom.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, I think John did well in his lesson. He is lovely and intended teacher because he tried to motivate ss in many ways such as using miming technique to get ss interest. Moreover, he also encouraged Ss to speak and practice using TL especially retelling the story. For my teaching, I have taught differently from him. For example, I used to teach pronunciation by letting ss to listen to the verbs that end with /t/,/d/,and /id/ and asked ss to differentiate each sound. However, the way of blowing the paper is interesting too. John and Asli's lesson is quite same in many aspects such as teacher tried to encourage the students as much as he/she can and they also focused on every Ss. On the other hand, there are some different points. In Asli’s lesson, she used a lot of materials than John’s lesson and Ss in Asli’s lesson felt more comfortable than John ‘s lesson.
ReplyDeleteFinally,I think I can gain a lot of idea from John’s lesson. I have learnt how to encourage the students, how to teach pronunciations in another way and how to control and mange the class. I will adapt these ideas to develop my Ss.
John did well in his lesson. I feel amazed that he could successfully integrate pronunciation with storytelling (past tense) using “scaffolding” technique. He also used a variety of teaching techniques: mime for vocabulary game in warm-up activity , hangman for vocabulary elicitation, pronunciation game with paper notes, charades or word guessing game and blowing a piece of A4 paper to check up pronouncing voiced and unvoiced sounds of past tense verb endings. He could balance his role and students’ interactions. He praised his students and gave a feedback on the verb when a student produced during the warm-up activity. I also like the way he used sticky notes in a competitive game; the students stick them on the charts to discriminate sounds /d/, /t/ and /ɪd/.
ReplyDeleteI like his idea of blowing a piece of paper in teaching pronunciation but I would recommend my students to use dictionary on line to practice pronunciation for their own learning outside the classroom.
John’s teaching style is similar to Asli’s Both John and Asli praised and gave feedbacks to students, used many well-planned techniques. However, Asli’s class was more relaxed than John’s in warming-up step because she was familiar with her students while John was new to his students. He later built a better rapport with the students in pronunciation class when he demonstrated how to pronounce regular past tense verb endings and in a storyboard activity by working with them and monitoring their group work. John used integrating and scaffolding style making his student finally had more real-life communication.
As I gained as a teacher from watching John's lesson is that a professional teacher should be well-planned, confident, creative and knowledgeable.
Do you agree with me?

In my opinion ,I think John is a good teacher he used many techniques to manage in the classroom such as mime ,group work .He taught vocabulary by using bottom-up
ReplyDeleteHe controlled the students of monitor such as good or bad language and feedback after discussion about pronounce sentences and words and he finished teaching with past simple. I will apply his teaching technique in my classroom.
