PCSHS Trainee Workshop

Earlier today you participated in some workshops in which you and your peers introduced some teaching activities to supplement a lesson from a coursebook. 

Write something that you learned today, for instance, about an activity you observed others teach, and that you could usefully adopt in your classroom.

  1. I introduce " Four square sentences and True or False games.They are interesting. Because students practice about affirmative and negative in past simple tense. When students read the story.They can check understanding by use True or False game.
    Today, I learned about techniques to teach students from another groups.They have many teaching techniques.They are useful for me and my students. I know how to teach the students in classroom. The teaching techniques help me adapt activity in my class.They are interesting.They have many materials to use in class.I think it's a good idea.

  2. 1) Today, I learned about how to manage the process and time in class. Teacher should manage the procedure of teaching in a logical order. Moreover, teacher should have clear aim for every step of activity, make sure what are they doing for. I learned how to solve the facing problem, for example, I had a technology's problem, I tried to solve by using another technique (may be teacher read it aloud). Finally, I learned how to benefit the teaching material as much as possible.
    2) The interesting activity which I observed from other teachers is the activity for guessing the word in lead-in step of Advantage and Disadvantage class. They used picture and mixing words to elicit the meaning and schema. I think it is good and challenging. I would like to adapt it for teaching in the same theme (Playing computer game) after I back to my school because in the past I taught "Playing computer game" in different way and it didn't work well. I believe this game can help my student understand better.

  3. Today I introduced some activities with my colleagues about invitation and accepting. I knew that some activities were successful but some activities were failed because we missed understanding about the given instruction of the trainer and the time limit. However I received some new techniques from observing another group presentation such as rip and run game, true or false, four square and so on. I promise that I will add some techniques in my lesson plan and use them in my class.

This morning I presented about " Invitation and Acceptation" I think it was a good activities because we presented teaching in step by step but my group didn't describe the topic and the objectives of teaching. We presented Micro-Teaching,It wasn't demonstration about observing another group. I received the knowledge about how to teach vocabulary,reading , writing ,listening. Some activities are interesting I think I can apply them to use in my class.

  5. Today I had participated English teaching that I presented about the invitation, acceptation and greeting. Then I and teamwork had introduced
    the contents by teaching step by step like a micro teaching. Sometimes I didn't describe the contents
    that it was not clear but I tried to explain the contents. I thought that I tried to do the best things next time. Today I got a new knowledge and a new strategies to manage the teaching activities in my classroom.

  6. The teaching and observing today.I think that I learned the teaching process of myself and another groups. There are many techniques. Each group had the process teaching stages. 1) The warm up / Lead- in I learned how to linked to the content by adding activities to create interest, such as the activity for guessing the word, playing games to review knowledge. 2) The presentation had presented about new vocabulary, new content to understand both forms and meanings, such as vocabulary matching, true or false. 3) The practice I learned how to used the language to practice the whole class as a group in pairs or individually. 4) The production in the this step is process of using language. I got practices to read sentences in various situations, such as playing games, doing exercises, presentations or group reports. Then the every activities, all teaching and learning today. There are many useful. I try ADAPT to in the my classroom.

Today I have participated in workshops with my friends introduced some teaching activities to supplement a lesson from a coursebook.I learned many interesting activities,many techniques in the class some activities I never use before, but today the trainee workshops make me have new ideas so when I get back to school I quite sure that I can create many kinds about teaching methodologies.I prefer almost workshop activities,especially the festival (rip and run) to teach about the reading comprehension because there are variety activities and it's really suitable for grade 8 students. I will adopt all these workshop activities in my class and I think they are very useful for me to create the activities in my class.

  8. Yesterday I have a good chance to present trainee workshop presentation. I tried to do best. I have learnt many things. But first of all, I want to thank you my to give some more new vision and thank my all peers for new teaching techniques that I could learn from them.
    I have learnt the way of warm up activities that I tried to teach vocabulary more successfully. I know more the steps of teaching. It's better thing than I have taught that I shouldn't forget to record my students' idea and compare with the text in textbook. Moreover I like "Rip & Run" reading technique that is similar as running dictation that I presented and T Amilcar's technique. I can adapt this technique from 3 ways together. It is good to awaken, encourage students to be interested in reading and change their mind to join with me in class in reading. It is my weekness point. In the past I tried many ways but I was never confident when did reading activities.
    How lucky am I to have a wonderful chance to attend in this program with OTAGO.

Yesterday I introduced some activities with my colleagues about advantages and disadvantages of playing computer game.We tried our best to used some techniques from this training workshop.Thank you for comments and advice from teacher and our friends in class.I have I think I have learnt the teaching process of myself and the useful techniques from another groups in class that I can adapt to use in my class .I learnt more to teach English in all of skills.For instance about an activity I observe that I could usefully adapt in my class.I think I like every lesson but some activities or some lessons I have to change some contents that more interested suitable for my students'level.I think all work shop are very useful for me.

  10. Yesterday I have a good chance with all teachers. The trainee workshop it's interesting activity for me. I introduced some activities with my colleagues about past simple tense about to fill the words in gap fills exercise. I think this activity very suit for students because they try to get the answers after that teacher gives students a word list which is a clue of the answer this activity student can practice about listening skill and reading skill to check about their comprehension of the passage. and I learned about techniques or many materials to use in class from another teachers.They are useful for me and my students. I will adapt all activities in my class.

  11. Yesterday I presented trainee workshop presentation. I have learnt many things from my lesson. For example,I can gain a lot of techniques from my classmates that I will adapt to use in my classroom such as True/False game. I have learnt how to preview vocabulary before teaching reading. I have to prepare suit material for my students level and also be aware of language structure in worksheet. Moreover, I know more about teaching reading. I have to give students task before text and more focused on reading comprehension. For my favorite activity,I like the way that my classmates teach past simple tense by using 4 square. I think I will adapt this technique to teach grammar and also reading. It can cause students to be interested in reading and be eager to study with me. Finally, I will say thank you to you all for great opportunity to take part in this program with OTAGO. ^_^

  12. It is our unforgettable experience to have a good opportunity to practice teaching and observe others teach on 14 May 2019. We planned and introduced teaching activities to supplement a lesson from grade 8 coursebook. We have done things differently from usual. We have to think more who, what, when, how of language teaching and used L2 more. As a trainee, I discovered something new about my teaching: teaching procedure to help students more improved, managing class, and good techniques. I also learned a new activity I observed my peers taught, I like “Rip and Run” technique for teaching reading and remembering. It is a challenging game I participated as a student. It could be seen that the class were active the pressure went on students, trying to spend less time on reading, remembering and writing the answers correctly. To Practice reading with this game more and more can help students develop themselves to be strategic readers.
    I could usefully adopt “Rip and Run” game in my classroom.
